Welcome to Basalt
Basalt is also becoming a popular place to set down roots and raise a family, retire or build that second home. With excellent schools, a college near by in Glenwood springs and ongoing events for kids and adults of all ages, basalt offers that rare combination of a small town with access to big city amenities.
Basalt was once merely “that one town near Aspen” for many years, but with their superb collection of shops, restaurants and art galleries, they have become more than just an afternoon getaway, but a town around which to plan an entire vacation. Located at the confluence of the Roaring Fork and the Frying Pan rivers, Basalt may be the best kept fishing secret in the state. The gold medal waters which run up and down the Valley are especially active here. Basalt is also the most centrally located town from which to explore the entire Valley and has a number of great hiking and biking trails nearby. Basalt is also home to a number of excellent events and festivals throughout the Summer.
If you are only here for a visit, you will find no shortage of superb shopping, lodging, dining, activities and various services. If you are here to stay, then you will want to learn about some of the excellent neighborhoods, developments, resources and agents who can help you find the perfect place.
Whether you are vacationing or relocating, we are confident that our web guide and the Family Playground Magazine will answer most questions you have on visiting and living in Basalt. Enjoy!
